How to find the right power supply
for your amplifier or receiver

First, you must determine how great a current load the power supply must carry. All of these units will produce the nomiunal 12.8 volts standard voltage. Many also have variable voltages available. But each unit is limited in the amount of current, measured in Amperes, that it can produce.

To find out how much current your particular amplifier needs, look at the owner's manual to see if their is a power consumption rating. If this information is not available, look at the power fuse for the main (+) power input. The correct maximum power should be indicated on the fuse holder, or on the fuse itself. It will be presented in the form of a number followed by "A" - 25A, 40A, etc. This is the current flow the unit will need to function at it's rated level of maximum RMS output performance.

Choose a power supply from the list above, that indicates the amount of current needed, or more - but not less.

This same method applies to receivers and all forms of electronic equipment. In some cases of very high power equipment, two power supplies may be needed. For others, specialized power supplies may be required. In this case, contact us for more information.
