Info About
Head Units
To
obtain the unit's true
power output in RMS Watts,
divide by 2, than divide
by
the number of channels to
get the continuous RMS
power per channel.
Around
25 watts RMS per channel
is about the most power
obtainable
from a car
receiver. Apply this rule
to all equipment on
and off this
site.
Despite the fact that
the
average power for many
receivers is often under
20 RMS watts, this is
actually more than sufficient
for 25 to 200 watt source
speakers, which will typically
carry the mid bass on up.
For what many would
agree is a loud overall
sound in this area, 3 to 5
watts would be the averaged
power output.
For external Bass power
systems, the rules are quite
different; hundreds of watts
can be necessary to achieve
realistic bass.
CD changers connect
with
either a line input or by
FM modulator.
